Cobalt blue and gold handmade mirror

Renaissance style mirror made by the hands of a master craftsman skilled in Old World frame making arts. The piece is water gilded all over with 22K gold. A band of cobalt-blue egg tempera paint was then used to create the accomplished by "sgrafitto" -- carefully scratching away portions of the tempera paint by hand -- a technique popular during the Italian Renaissance. The gold surface of this unique piece is lightly distressed.The grape leaf decorative motif is based on a fresco border from the Basilica of St. Francis of Asissi in Italy. We sell very few reproductions of period pieces, but this exquisite frame is one that we are proud to offer.

Modern cobalt blue mirror c1950

This arch top cobalt blue mirror with beveled edge measures 7 feet high by 4 feet wide, it was probably made between 1940 and 1950. This color glass is very hard to find, and beveling costs about $1.50 per linear inch. Very good condition.

This unique arts and crafts period frame is from the late 19th century with engraved metal mythological masks,flowers,medieval courting figures and a shield all mounted on a oak wood background. The frame measures 9 by 12 inches and the inset area measures 4 by 6 inches. This frame would make a lovely table or dresser top mirror.

Large French panel mirror with pineapples columns and swagged center medallion. This large French wall mirror dates for the 1800's has a white wash finish and measures 90 inches high, 39 inches wide, 1 and one half inches deep and 3 and one quarter inches deep at its pineapples. Just in from a Lower CT estate.

Antique Victorian Walnut Oval Shaped Wall Mirror c1865

This "antique American Victorian mirror" is rare because of its large size,which measures 31 and one half inches wide and is 36 and one half inches tall and is 3 and one half inches thick. The outside frame of the mirror was cut from solid American black walnut. When this mirror was made it was hard to find solid stock black walnut stock large enough to cut four single one piece sections to make this frame C1865. The plate glass mirror itself was replaced years ago.
